21st Annual PBPS Blues Challenge

September 29-30, 2007

The 21st annual Blues Challenge was held on Saturday and Sunday, September 29-30 at The Clubhouse, 435 Dolley Madison Road, Greensboro, NC.

This annual event featured local and regional blues bands and solo artists competing for a trip to the International Blues Challenge Jan 31 - Feb 2, 2008 in Memphis, TN, and guaranteed booking at the 22nd Annual Carolina Blues Festival in May of 2008. The highest placing North Carolina band also received booking at the Bull Durham Blues Festival, to be held in September of 2008.

Past winners of the PBPS Blues Challenge include Big Rick & The Bombers, The Matt Hill Blues Band, Waymon "Buttermilk" Meeks, The Allison King Band, Blue Smoke Blues Band, Blues Hangover, and Abe Reid. Performing as a solo artist, Abe Reid won the Blues Challenge in 1998 and later that year became the only performer representing the PBPS to win the International Blues Challenge in Memphis.

The 21st Annual PBPS Blues Challenge is sponsored by Rock 92, Yes! Weekly, WNAA, Smith Stokes Chrysler Dodge Jeep Chevrolet, and the Bank of Oak Ridge.
