For the first time in 11 years the signature event of the Piedmont Blues
Preservation Society is returning to the place it began—downtown Greensboro.
The 17th Annual Carolina “Lite” Blues Festival will be held at Church Street
and Friendly Avenue in downtown Greensboro on Saturday, June 7th, from 2pm-10pm.
For the 11th consecutive year, Miller Brewing Company of Eden, North Carolina is the Festival’s title sponsor.
In its effort to return the Festival to its original home, the PBPS Festival
Committee sought the advice of Ray Gibbs, president of Downtown Greensboro,
Inc. Gibbs suggested the Church and Friendly site.
"We felt the time was right to return the Carolina "Lite" Blues Festival
to downtown Greensboro," Tina Terry, Festival Chairperson said. "We
hope our event will help the efforts of downtown development as well as give
the community a central location to enjoy great Blues music."
The Festival began in downtown Greensboro at the old Friends Motor Inn in
1986. In 1989, the Festival was moved to the Depot where it remained
through 1992.
After several more locations, including Castle McCulloch (Jamestown), Emerald
Pointe (Greensboro) and the most recent venue, Tanglewood Park (Clemmons),
the Carolina “Lite” Blues Festival returns to downtown Greensboro.
The theme of this year’s event is “Bringin’ The Blues Back Home.”

The Piedmont Blues Preservation Society is a non-profit all-volunteer organization dedicated to keeping the blues alive.
