To further the PBPS mission to educate children about the blues heritage, the Carolina Blues Festival will once again have a Kids Area.

One of this area's most accomplished blues performers, Abe Reid, will entertain the children with storytelling and interactive blues performances. He will perform three times in the Kids Area -- 1:30 - 2:00 pm, 3:40 - 4:15 pm, and 5:30 - 6:00 pm.

The Kids Area will also feature balloons, face-painting, arts and crafts, and other fun activities. Children 12 and under will be admitted free to the Festival.

Abe Reid won the 1998 PBPS Talent Contest and represented the Society at the International Blues Challenge in October of that year. He became the first, and only, PBPS-sponsored artist to win the International Blues Challenge with a blistering solo blues set. He now tours North Carolina and the Southeast with his band The Spikedrivers.
