To further the PBPS mission to educate children about the blues heritage, the Carolina Blues Festival will once again have a Kids Area. Note that children 12 and under will be admitted free to the Festival. The Kids Area is operated in partnership with The Music Academy of North Carolina.

The Academy will bring exciting enhancements to the Kids Area, including demonstrations of Early Childhood Music programs and the very popular instrument petting zoo. Other popular activities such as face painting and arts & crafts will continue.

Information about the MANC and its programs and faculty will be available on site, and faculty and staff will be available to answer questions. We at the PBPS look to this partnership with the MANC to continue the rapid growth of the Kids Area both in popularity and educational value.

This year we are proud to welcome The Grit Pixies from Asheville, NC as our Kids Area entertainers. They will provide blues performances and storytelling throughout the day. Composed of Jill Fromewick (harmonica, washboard, vocals) and Eliza Lynn (guitar, banjo, vocals), the Grit Pixies impressed the crowds with their performance at the PBPS 2007 Blues Challenge.
