1:00      Doors Open
2:00     Bump & Logie
Adding to the PBPS's long tradition of acoustic blues at the Carolina Blues Festival is Greensboro's Bump & Logie. Both performers are mainstays on the Triad blues scene, and both have won the prestigious PBPS "Keepin' The Blues Alive" award, given annually at the Festival.

Bump, of course, is Bubba Klinefelter, aka "Big Bump," as in Big Bump & The Stun Gunz. Logie, is none other than Logie Meachum, the dynamic singer/songwriter/storyteller. Although they frequently perform with their electric band, The After Hours Blues Band, Bump & Logie truly shine as an acoustic duo, mixing Piedmont, Chicago and traditional Delta blues.
3:00     Big Rick & The Bombers Featuring Adrian Duke
Big Rick & The Bombers call Raleigh, NC home, but their busy touring schedule keeps them away from the Triangle quite a bit. The 2006 PBPS Blues Challenge winners have added a new weapon to their formidable onstage arsenal; organist Adrian Duke, who has performed with Cyril Lance and others. Duke's soaring keyboards and gritty vocals give the Bombers a funky edge. Big Rick Nunez proves that he is equally adept on lead guitar as he is on bass, and Lynette Barber brings it all home with her scintillating vocals. Check out the band at www.bigricksoul.com.
4:30     Jimmy Thackery & the Drivers
Washington DC-based Jimmy Thackery & The Drivers are certainly no strangers to this area. The Triad was a frequent stop for Thackery as a member of the Nighthawks (1974-1987) and his own band, Jimmy Thackery & The Assassins (1987-1991). He has been a mainstay on the Carolina blues circuit since forming the trio known as Jimmy Thackery & The Drivers. But his incendiary guitar technique and marathon live shows have earned Thackery international raves.

In addition to the 20 albums he recorded with the Nighthawks, Thackery has released a dozen CDs under his own name, including his brand new offering on Rykodisc, In The Natural State (with the Cate Brothers). Learn more about the band out at www.jimmythackery.com/.
6:15     Michael Hill's Blues Mob
Brooklyn natives Michael Hill's Blues Mob are living proof that the blues can be a socially relevant art form while remaining true to its traditional roots. Beginning with their debut Alligator release Bloodlines (1994), Michael Hill has paired sturdy blues chords with biting social commentary on race, class, poverty and injustice.

Onstage, Hill is an ebullient performer, inviting crowd participation while ripping off one dazzling guitar solo after another. His latest live double CD, Electric Storyland Live, is a great representation of a Michael Hill's Blues Mob concert experience Check out www.michaelhillsbluesmob.com to learn more about the band.
8:00      Hubert Sumlin
Legendary blues guitarist Hubert Sumlin, the man whose guitar licks adorned countless Howlin' Wolf songs, will headline the 21st Annual Carolina Blues Festival. The 76 year old Sumlin joined Howlin' Wolf's band in 1954 and played guitar on such classic recordings as "300 Pounds Of Heavenly Joy," "Killing Floor," "Wang Dang Doodle," and "Hidden Charms."

Sumlin's guitar style has been cited as a major influence by such legends as Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck and Keith Richards. Sumlin has also performed with blues harp master James Cotton, Muddy Waters, Johnny Winter and Bob Margolin. His latest release is 2005's About Those Shoes, on the Tone Cool label.

Hubert Sumlin will be backed up by one of the hottest blues guitarists currently on tour, Michael Burks. Michael and his band will perform their own material and welcome the blues legend Hubert Sumlin to the stage to close the Festival. Burks is a four-time Blues Music Award nominee and winner of Living Blues' 2004 Guitarist of the Year award. His most recent release, I Smell Smoke, was nominated for a Blues Music Award for Contemporary Blues Album of the Year, and the title track was nominated for Contemporary Blues Song of the Year. Michael has toured America and Europe to wildly enthusiastic reviews and is considered one of the genre's best live acts.
