WNAA, the radio voice of North Carolina A&T State University, will receive the net profits from this event. WNAA is the home of The Blues Hangover, the longest running blues program in the Triad, airing Thursdays from 6:00-9:00pm. The station also airs the nationally syndicated blues program The Beale Street Caravan, Fridays from 8:00-9:00pm. WNAA has a long history of helping A&T students gain valuable hands-on experience in broadcasting, production and promotions.One of Greensboro's fastest-rising blues bands, The Stovepipes, will perform at the Blue Christmas benefit concert. Fronted by dynamic lead singer Robin Doby, guitarist David Bolton and saxophonist Dwayne Leonard, the Stovepipes took third place in the 2006 PBPS Blues Challenge. Their exuberant brand of Chicago and jump blues will pack the dance floor and shake the walls.
The opening act will be The Blues Board, featuring PBPS Trustees Stan Atwell (guitar), Mark Rebeck (guitar), Casey Hazelman (bass), Kevin Dollar (guitar), Mike Caudle (harmonica) and John Amberg (drums).
Doors open at 8:00pm and the music begins around 9:00pm. Admission is $15 ($10 for PBPS members and current A&T students). All net proceeds will benefit WNAA.
